Good companies are born out of a need.  In the 1970’s thru 1986, JoBe Cerny and a number of friends who were former members of The Second City found themselves in high demand to write and perform scripts and music for advertising agencies and producers of industrial shows and videos.  The friends all worked out of their homes and collaborated on many projects together but felt their lot would improve if they united their efforts under a common banner.  While he was attending
Northwestern Graduate School, JoBe did a study about the formation of the major motion picture companies.  He found his group of talented friends in a similar situation that Charlie Chaplin, Mary Pickford and Douglas Fairbanks, Jr., found themselves in many years earlier.  Those three artists united their artistic efforts under a common banner that came to be known as United Artists to promote their work.
