So in July of 1986, JoBe created the production company, Cerny/American Creative, as an umbrella organization for him and his creative partners.  The company would finance the partner’s individual projects, handle accounting and union paperwork, and provide basic office facilities.  The goal was to eventually build studios and create a downtown
Chicago presence.

Initially, people questioned if the name of the company sounded too grand for its humble beginnings.  After all, the company was just a group of free-lance writer/performers who were working out of their homes.  But the ultimate vision was to grow the company into a much larger entity that would warrant a big sounding name.
